“My Tartu” Contest

"My Tartu"—We're looking for talented young artists.

What makes Tartu *your* city? Is it the Emajõgi River and its bridges, the cobblestone streets of the Old Town, the playgrounds, or perhaps something unique that only you associate with your hometown?

In collaboration with the Tartu City Government, we invite children ages 5–15 to participate in the project “Tartu by Little Artists”—a unique initiative where young creators can draw their vision of Tartu. These very drawings may become part of the special “MY TARTU” collection—T-shirts and sweatshirts featuring the children’s artwork and telling the story of Tartu through their eyes.

If you have a young artist at home whose heart beats to the rhythm of Tartu, this is their chance to share their work!

The most special drawings will become part of the “My Tartu” collection — unique T-shirts and sweatshirts that showcase the work of young artists and make their love for their hometown visible to both locals and visitors from afar.

How can I participate?

  • Draw your own Tartu! Use a dark marker —that way, your drawing will show up best when it’s printed.
  • Your drawing can depict anything that you associate with Tartu
  • You can email your drawing to tartu@blackgiraffe.ee (ask your mom or dad to take a photo of it) or drop it off at the Tartu City Information Center, located on the first floor of Tartu City Hall (entrance through the side door).
  • Don’t forget to sign your name on the drawing and include your parents’ contact information (name, phone number, and email address) along with it. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to find you 🙂

The winning entries will be selected by a jury, and it is these drawings that will be featured in our exclusive “My Tartu” collection of T-shirts and sweatshirts

The collection features T-shirts, sweatshirts, and postcards with images of the winning entries and will be on sale throughout the summer. In addition, all five finalists will receive T-shirts and sweatshirts designed based on the drawings they submitted.

But the rewards don’t end there—
‘s prizes for the top five are also provided by Tartu’s very most child-friendly businesses!

We will present the winning collection on June 1, Children’s Day

P.S.! Art is in the eye of the beholder, and you’re more than welcome to vote for your favorite(s).
